Ok, so travel might be on hold this year. (Thanks, 2020.) But there is a way you can feel that bit closer to your favourite destinations right here in Manchester. We’re fortunate enough to have some of the UK’s finest international-inspired restaurants right on our doorstep here in the city.
So, grab your camera and put your ‘out of office’ on for a few hours – it’s time to eat like you’re on holiday!
Asha’s Indian Restaurant – Peter Street
Feel the heat and smell the aroma of some of India’s finest street food and cherished family recipes at Asha’s.
This international brand, created by Bollywood legend Asha Bhosle, offers a truly high-end Indian dining experience. Eat in the surroundings of opulent gold furnishings. Enjoy a blend of classic and contemporary dishes, prepared by some of the world’s most acclaimed Indian cuisine chefs.
Tattu – Spinningfields
Transport yourself to China with the incredible surroundings of Tattu.
Marvel at the restaurant’s elegant cherry blossom tree and its incredible ambient lighting. Tattu’s interior really is magnificent and you feel as if your dining at one of the coolest new hotspots in Shanghai.
And the food is pretty special, too. Tuck into some of the finest pan-Asia dishes you’ll find anywhere, while their intriguing cocktails – which contain ingredients such as sake and yuzu – could become your new favourite holiday drink.
San Carlo – King Street
Italian food that’s so authentic that, if you squint hard enough, you’d think you were on the shores of Lake Garda rather than Manchester (too much?).
San Carlo has long been renowned as arguably the city’s finest Italian restaurant. It’s also a well-known hang out for Manchester’s footballers and celebrities; so if you get papped on the way in you’ll definitely feel like your on the streets of Milan (more realistic?).
Enjoy classic dishes oozing flavour, fresh seafood, and indulgent seared steaks. Make sure you save room for San Carlo’s handmade gelato, too; no trip away would be complete without an ice cream, would it?!
Tast Cuina Catalana – King Street
Take yourself off to Barcelona and sample the finest Catalan cuisine at Tast Cuina Catalana.
Part-owned by Manchester City football coach Pep Guardiola, traditional Catalonian dishes are served up by a five Michelin Star chef. Try ‘Tastet’ dishes – Catalan tapas that is bigger than its Spanish equivalent. The ingredients are so authentic that even the restaurant’s bread is flown over from the Mediterranean once a week!
Tast Cuina Catalana will have you feeling like you’re strolling down Las Ramblas on a weekend city break.
Gaucho – St Mary’s Street
How about a taste of South America? Gaucho is Manchester’s little corner of Argentina. And it’s definitely the place for meat lovers.
Indulge in a prime cut steak whilst sipping on the finest Malbec. Immerse yourself in the luxurious furniture and cow-print interior. An evening at Gaucho will leave you feeling full of Latin cheer. It’s Buenos Aires just off Deansgate!
Cane & Grain – Thomas Street
Go stateside in the Northern Quarter.
Cane & Grain is your key to unlocking the flavour of the US in your own backyard. This New York-style hangout will bring Brooklyn to you, and is arguably the best place in the city for the finest ribs, burgers and cocktails.
Set across three floors, including an 80’s skate-scene themed Rib Joint and Tap Room, Cain & Grain is your slice of America in Manchester.
